Teaching in the midst of war

Presentation by Mr Dmytro Zavgorodnii, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine for digital development, digital transformations and digitalization, at the online event Teacher education in emergencies to support attraction and well-being to celebrate World Teachers' Day held on 6 October 2023. The session led by the Teacher Task Force explored the unique challenges of teaching and learning, strengthening the attractiveness of the teaching profession and retention of teachers in emergency contexts. It presented some examples of teachers’ professional development and digital tools to support the teaching process in emergencies, enhance attractiveness and ensure continuity of education and access to quality distance learning. This presentation illustrates some of the digitalisation process in Ukraine, its challenges, as well as the projects led by UNESCO in the country (GPE and Google.org) and how they aim to support teacher’s wellbeing and attractiveness during this unprecedented crisis.
