Conference on the Use of Contract Teachers Report

Addis Ababa, June 20-24, 2016

The conference was aimed at providing knowledge sharing opportunities on the status of various contract types of teachers within educational systems in sub-Saharan Africa and in other regions. The experiences of countries outside Africa were also shared in order to enrich the debate and deepen understanding of raising the professional identity and social status of the teaching profession; the efficiency and effectiveness, sustainability, costs and pedagogical impacts of the use of contract teachers on educational systems, etc. Overall, more than 100 participants from the review participating countries and other regions of the world attended the conference.
